PET OF THE MONTH

BUDDHA

This is Buddha. He was found as a stray, barely alive. He was covered in ticks, unresponsive and very skinny. Buddha, as we call him, after some medical treatment we realized that he had a great appetite and still does a few weeks later. Buddha is only 2 years old, but looks a lot older right now due to his rough start in life. Buddha is a neutered male. He is extremely friendly!!!! He is a special needs cat and whoever adopts him will need to do their homework on him. Buddha tested positive for FIV. I have attached a website that you can go on and learn more about what being FIV positive means in a cat -
www.cats.about.com/cs/healthissues/a/fiv_in_cats.htm

Here is part of the explanation from the website. FIV (Feline Immumodeficiency Virus) is a retrovirus in the same family as the human AIDS virus, with a few significant differences. It is estimated that in the United States, 2% of cats are infected with the FIV virus. Saliva to blood (biting) is generally accepted as the primary source of spreading the virus, and it is unlikely (but not impossible) that cats will spread FIV by drinking or eating out of the same food dish, or by mutual grooming. Buddha is looking for a home. He is a great cat and deserves a happy life. If you are interested in adopting our special needs cat, Buddha, please call or stop by.
